Yesterday, IAWP President Cheryl Brown presided over a meeting of the board of directors. Many issues were discussed including: membership, dues, chapters, finances, committees, publications, communications, governing documents, and more. Although the board covered a lot of ground, two matters were addressed and modified, based upon recent member input.
Senior Workforce Professional Dues
Several weeks ago, a dues increase was initiated to respond to the growing cost of providing member services and operating the association overall. Although many members supported the need for the increase, some Senior Workforce Professional members expressed concern that the increase was too much at one time. Hearing these concerns, the board voted to spread the increase over a two-year period. Specifically, moving Senior Workforce Professional dues from $25 to $35 in 2018 and from $35 to $50 in 2019. The board discussed its appreciation for the contributions of Senior Workforce Professionals, and its desire to identify ways for all classes of members to work together in support of the mission of IAWP.
Chapter Affiliation Annual Reports
The board delayed implementation of the Chapter Affiliation Annual Report (CAAR) so that training programs and materials can be developed to aide chapters in growth and development. The CAAR provides a new set of performance guidelines designed to help chapters deliver consistent benefits to members, and should not be confused with the Chapter Affiliation Agreement.
CAAR identifies five key areas and standards that will enable IAWP chapters to run their chapters more efficiently. The areas include: administration, financial, membership, professional development, and communication. CAAR also delivers a consistent set of member benefits to help chapters become the best they can be.
During this season, we take time to reflect upon the good things we have, like serving you as a member of the International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP).
We appreciate the opportunity to work with you and hope that the holidays and the coming year will bring you happiness and success. As always, please let us know how we can be of service.
The IAWP office will be open on a limited service basis between December 22, 2017 and January 2, 2018.
